Starting New

This has been one of the most challenging and exciting seasons of my life. As we have been moving toward starting this church plant, I have frequently found myself feeling a myriad of emotions and thoughts. Sometimes I'm completely overwhelmed with gratitude for the people who have helped to send us, chosen to go with us, or given toward this new ministry. Sometimes I am overwhelmed with doubt thinking about whether or not I have what it takes to do this, or what will happen to my family if things don't go smoothly. These feelings and thoughts are so real, and at times, can be completely consuming.

The mistake I often make when I feel such strong emotion or when my mind races in these ways, is that I am not meant to feel such things, and a God-centered life doesn't have such thoughts.

My friends, that simply isn't true.

I think the word comfort has become a foundational word for many of us, whether in the church or not. We believe right is equal to comfortable. So, if we are feeling stretched, or we are facing a situation that seems bigger than us, we must have made a misstep.

I'm here to tell you today, it very well may be true, that the exact opposite is true.

Hebrews 11:6 says, "And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him."

Life is meant to have moments where we are sure we can't do it on our own, where we desperately need God's help in order to move forward, and by faith, we continue on.

Certainly I am not saying, that every complicated situation we find ourselves in pleases God, but I am absolutely saying, that if we live in a way that never takes faith, we are missing out on all that God wants for us.

So what are you looking at today? What challenges are in front of you? What are you putting your faith in Jesus for?

Perhaps you are in a place like me, starring off a cliff, not sure if you have the strength to jump, and wondering if this parachute will open. Can I just tell you, whatever God calls us to, He is faithful to provide!

Or perhaps you've been walking through life, avoiding every challenge, making comfort your goal, rather than obedience to Christ. Can I challenge you to consider, that God has a desire that faith be a part of your journey. Seek Him, ask Him where He might be providing opportunities for faith, and when you hear Him and find them... jump off!

Praying for you today!
