Doppelgänger
I’ve always wondered really what it meant to be made in the image of God. What does that word (image) mean?
The definition is: a visual representation, exact likeness, splitting image, exact replica and as a synonym.....Doppelgänger!
Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let Us make mankind in Our image, according to Our likeness; 27 So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Colossians 1:15 Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation 16 for through him God created everything.
As I’m pondering these versus, I see that Jesus was there with God before all, in the beginning; creating, creating us in their image.
I wonder why in Genesis vs 27, it repeats itself three times. Is it because it was important to God that we know this?
They see us worthy, of high value, holy, loving, gracious, faithful and compassionate. Full of the fruits of the Spirit. We are perfect in their sight, full of faith and hope in us.
As believers we should be progressively developing the character of Jesus in our own life. Allowing Holy Spirit to help the process of becoming more and more like Him. It’s called sanctification. It’s the process by which the Spirit of God begins to mold and shape us into the image of Christ.
We have a perfect example to follow. Jesus. He is our doppelgänger! We are in the process of becoming an exact replica of Him.
We have been made in the image of God! How wonderful is that! It’s time we start believing it! It’s time we realize Who we are and Who’s we are!!!!
